The number one health problem diagnosed in 8 out of 10 cats and dogs over 4 years of age is periodontal disease. We provide comprehensive dental care. We strive to make our clients aware of the importance of having their pet’s teeth examined and cleaned on a regular basis. Preventative dental care can add 2-4 years to the life of your pet.
Getting your pet’s teeth cleaned involves general anesthesia. Patient preparation is the same as for any surgery. With safety being our top priority, bloodwork and intraoperative fluids are often recommended. The teeth are carefully cleaned with an ultrasonic scaler and hand instruments. After cleaning, they are thoroughly polished, cleaned with a disinfectant rinse, and treated with fluoride.
Following cleaning, brushing frequently will help more than anything to ensure the continued health of your pet’s teeth.
